Cangelosi, 86, started as an employee in the 1960s before taking over as owner in 1985. Moonlight Rollerway has been operating since 1956, running out of a warehouse that was once used to make airplane parts during World War II. Over the last three decades, it's become a space for the LGBTQ community to gather and, importantly, party. This is what it's like on any given Wednesday at Moonlight Rollerway during Rainbow Skate, one of the few consistent queer, sober events in the Los Angeles area. system crackles to announce a last-chance call for the snack bar’s hot dogs and hamburgers.
